Young man arrested in Nampula for attempting to sell his son for $100,000

In Nampula province, an alarming case is generating great outrage among the population. A young man was arrested by authorities after being caught trying to sell his own two-year-old son for US$100,000. According to preliminary reports, the individual was part of a group of friends who, driven by the ambition of achieving a life of luxury, devised a plan involving the sale of their own children in order to acquire material goods such as high-end cars and luxury homes.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the young man intended to complete the deal discreetly, but the operation was thwarted in time thanks to the intervention of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), which, through anonymous tips, managed to mount an operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect. The child was safely rescued and handed over to social services, who are monitoring the case. The people of Nampula are shocked by what happened and demand exemplary justice, advocating for harsh penalties for crimes that violate children's fundamental rights.

The case once again exposes the vulnerability of minors in contexts marked by extreme poverty, lack of education, and absence of family values. Authorities are calling for community vigilance and immediate reporting of any suspicious activity, warning that human trafficking and sale are serious and intolerable crimes under Mozambican law. The young father, now in custody, awaits trial and may face charges of child trafficking, attempted illegal sale of a human being, and other related crimes.
