Índico Seguros celebrates 15 years of activity. with new headquarters and enhanced operational capacity

On Thursday, Índico Seguros inaugurated its new headquarters in Maputo City, marking 15 years of activity with a focus on strengthening operational capacity, technological modernization, and greater proximity to clients.

The new headquarters operates in a historic building in the capital, which has been rehabilitated while maintaining its main architectural features. The space incorporates new technological solutions and areas for in-person and digital service, at a time when the insurer intends to expand its market presence and keep pace with the new investment cycle in Mozambique. The insurer confirmed the opening of the new space, strategically located at No. 1555 Julius Nyerere Avenue, in Polana Cimento.

At the ceremony, the Secretary of State in the City of Maputo, Vicente Joaquim, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Finance, highlighted the building's restoration and its value for preserving the architectural heritage of the capital. "The work done here shows that it is possible to conserve our heritage, keeping the memory of our city alive," he stated.

Vicente Joaquim also considered that the insurance market should prepare itself to keep pace with the transformation of the Mozambican economy, with greater technical and financial capacity, good governance and adequate protection mechanisms for families, businesses and investments.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Índico Seguros, Simone Santi, stated that the inauguration represents a new stage for a company created with Mozambican capital and focused on protecting national families, workers, and businesses. “The most important thing is that we put people at the center. When we talk about people, we talk about families, workers, and businesses,” he said.

Santi also highlighted the need for the national insurance sector to increase its capacity to support planned investments in the areas of energy, mineral resources, infrastructure, and industry. According to him, the growth of these sectors should create new opportunities for Mozambican insurers to participate in covering risks associated with large projects and contribute to greater value retention within the country.

"The Mozambican product must be accompanied by insurance. The Mozambican factory must be accompanied by insurance."Santi said, adding that Índico aims to combine national capabilities with international partnerships to meet the financial and technical demands of larger projects.

According to data presented by the company's leadership during the ceremony, Índico Seguros currently has more than 40,000 clients and 16 agencies distributed throughout the country. The company began operations in 2011 and has been expanding its territorial presence and incorporating digital solutions into its service delivery.

The new headquarters is being inaugurated during a period of business growth. In 2025, the insurer reported a 44% increase in premium volume, to 1.72 billion meticais, and the payment of approximately 800.2 million meticais in claims. The company ended the fiscal year with a net profit of 57.5 million meticais and a solvency margin of 132.27%.

The inauguration of the headquarters is part of the celebrations for Índico Seguros' 15th anniversary and marks the beginning of a new cycle focused on growth, innovation, digitalization, and strengthening its capacity to respond to the needs of the Mozambican market. The company's mission is to protect families and businesses through a swift response to policyholder losses.

The celebrations continued in the afternoon with a symposium on the theme "Insurance in Mozambique: Historical Evolution and Future Perspectives," which brought together around 200 participants, including representatives from the sector, authorities, and national and international partners.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, who officially opened the debates, initiating reflection on the main challenges, opportunities, and prospects for the development of the Mozambican insurance market. Throughout the symposium, participants addressed topics related to the sector's evolution, inclusion, innovation, technical and financial capacity, as well as the role of insurance in supporting economic growth and major investments in the country.
