The Mozambican agricultural sector now has new professionals prepared to contribute to food production, the sustainable management of natural resources, and the development of communities. In total, 81 students from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at Lúrio University (UniLúrio) completed their training, reinforcing the availability of specialized personnel for a strategic area of the national economy.
In this context, the Commercial and Investment Bank (BCI) recognized the best graduating students from that higher education institution, acknowledging their academic merit and encouraging the new professionals to continue to pursue excellence and knowledge as instruments of economic and social transformation.
The award ceremony took place during the Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, held on August 28, 2026, at the Unango Campus, Niassa Province. Among the graduates were students from the fields of Rural Development, Forestry Engineering, Animal Science Engineering, and the Master's program in Rural Development.
More than just marking the completion of an academic journey, graduation represents the entry of new professionals into areas directly related to some of the country's main development challenges, including agricultural productivity, food security, the sustainable use of natural resources, and the improvement of living conditions for the population.
On that occasion, the President of the Republic, Daniel Francisco Chapo, challenged the new graduates to put their acquired knowledge at the service of communities and the economic development of Mozambique. The Head of State also advocated for a university that is increasingly closer to communities and the productive sector, capable of transforming scientific knowledge into innovation and concrete solutions for the country's challenges.
It is within this purpose of valuing knowledge that the distinction awarded by BCI is framed. By rewarding students who have excelled in academic performance, the Bank seeks not only to recognize achievements, but also to stimulate a culture of merit, dedication and excellence among young university students.
Lúrio University is a public higher education institution dedicated to training qualified professionals, research, and university extension. Its Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, located on the Unango Campus, plays a significant role in preparing professionals linked to the agricultural sector and rural development.
For BCI, investing in the recognition of academic merit means valuing people who can transform knowledge into solutions for the country. By encouraging future agricultural, forestry and animal husbandry engineers, the Bank is associated with the training of a new generation of professionals called upon to contribute to more productive, resilient and sustainable communities.
