Yango Ride marked Mozambican Women's Day, celebrated on April 7th, with an initiative dedicated to highlighting the growing role of women in the country's digital economy.
The event was attended by the Country Manager of Yango Ride in Mozambique, Mahomed Zameer, and brought together female drivers partnered with the platform, who shared firsthand how the technology has been transforming their lives. Through real and inspiring stories, the impact of Yango Ride as a tool for income generation, financial independence, and the promotion of female entrepreneurship became evident.
More than a celebration, the event reinforced Yango's commitment to creating concrete opportunities for women, actively contributing to a more inclusive and dynamic economy in Mozambique.
“Our partners build their own stories. Our platform is just a tool; the real impact comes from the choice, courage, and determination of each woman who decides to move forward,” stated Mahomed Zameer, Country Manager of Yango Ride in Mozambique.
Partner drivers operate completely independently through Yango, benefiting from a simple onboarding process, flexible hours, autonomous management of their activities, intuitive technological tools, and safety features integrated into the application.
In his speech, Mahomed Zameer highlighted that Yango Ride in Mozambique has been registering significant growth in the number of women using the service's solutions, both as partners and as users in their daily lives, and even in emergency situations. As an example, data indicates that, for every 100 births that occur en route to maternity wards, at least 20 happen in vehicles operated through ride-hailing services.
“Our goal is to continue creating conditions that encourage more women to join the platform, guaranteeing access to economic opportunities, flexibility, and a safe environment, with the ambition of strengthening the provision of quality services to Mozambicans,” added Mahomed Zameer.
Among Yango Ride's partners are women who entered this activity after losing their jobs and who now operate exclusively as ride-hailing drivers, others who use Yango's services as a complementary activity in their free time, and still others who describe this activity as a form of therapy combined with income generation.
Marta Mussane is one of these partner entrepreneurs and has been operating through the Yango Ride service for two years, currently managing six vehicles dedicated to the service. “I started in traditional taxi services, but the digital transition led me to join Yango. Today, driving a taxi has become much easier; we no longer need to wait in a taxi rank for customers; now we can see, in real time, who is requesting our services anywhere in the city,” she stated.
The event also featured the special participation of Neyma Nacimo and Daniela Izidine, Mozambican digital influencers, who shared their experiences and encouraged other women to explore their potential through technology and entrepreneurship.
According to the influencers, technology can be a powerful tool for creating real opportunities, and Mozambican women are leading this movement with courage, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit.
In addition to facilitating urban mobility, Yango contributes to the local economy by creating flexible income opportunities, supporting micro-entrepreneurs, and promoting the use of technology in the daily lives of Mozambicans.
