Denmark welcomes the Moroccan autonomy plan as a sound basis for a solution to the Sahara issue agreed upon by the parties. This position was expressed by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen during a press statement marking the working visit of Nasser Bourita—Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates—to Copenhagen this Friday. In this regard, Rasmussen stated that "Denmark welcomes, in line with the European Union's position, the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797." The Danish foreign minister also welcomed the Moroccan autonomy proposal, describing it as "credible" and stating that it "makes a serious and essential contribution to the ongoing UN process," reiterating that the Moroccan autonomy plan is "a sound basis for a solution agreed upon by the parties."
With this stance, Denmark—a member of the United Nations Security Council—reaffirms its alignment with the international momentum driven by King Mohammed VI of Morocco in support of Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara and the Moroccan autonomy plan.
