In November, the United States Government and the Mozambican Government marked the successful conclusion of an antiterrorism training program with the graduation of 105 soldiers from the Mozambican Armed Forces (FADM). The ceremony took place at the Moamba Training Camp and symbolizes the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two countries in the field of security.
The event was attended by General Jane Dos Santos, Chief of the General Staff of the Mozambican Armed Forces (FADM), and Lieutenant Colonel Louis Cascino, United States Defense Attaché in Mozambique. Both highlighted the high performance of the graduates and reaffirmed the bilateral commitment to intensify cooperation in defense and regional stability matters.
The program, designed to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Mozambican Armed Forces (FADM) in combating violent extremism, included training in small unit tactics, operational planning, combat medical care, and civilian protection. Participants demonstrated significant progress in readiness, coordination, and mission execution, skills considered vital to Mozambique's efforts in consolidating security in conflict-affected provinces.
Beyond the military focus, the initiative also aims to support national objectives of resilience, community security, and an effective counter-terrorism response. Both Mozambican and American representatives emphasized that joint training and continued engagement are fundamental to promoting collective security and deepening lasting cooperation between the two countries.
This action is part of a broader framework of international support for Mozambique, aimed at consolidating peace and stability, within a context of multinational efforts to contain extremist threats in the region.
