The Salimo Abdula Foundation (FSA), as part of its commitment to promoting human development and social inclusion, recently held a meeting in Maputo for reflection and knowledge sharing aimed at young Mozambican women, as part of the celebrations for Mozambican Women's Day, observed on April 7th.
The initiative was conceived as a space for intergenerational dialogue, prioritizing the exchange of ideas and the active participation of young women. The meeting brought together leading women in different fields, promoting an open and reflective conversation about the role of African women in culture, knowledge, and the construction of the future.
On that occasion, the President of the Salimo Abdula Foundation, Paulo Oliveira, highlighted the importance of initiatives that stimulate critical thinking and female empowerment. “We believe that knowledge is one of the most powerful instruments of social transformation. By creating spaces for dialogue between generations, we are investing in a more conscious, better prepared youth, capable of leading the future with responsibility and purpose.”
The writer Paulina Chiziane, one of the most influential voices in Mozambican and African literature, argues for the urgent need to rescue historical figures and value narratives.
“For a long time, women’s stories have been silenced. Recovering them means restoring to young women the awareness of their legacy and their power to transform the present and the future.”said Chiziane.
Meanwhile, businesswoman Alima Hussein Sauji delivered a practical and inspiring presentation on knowledge, autonomy, and opportunities for the new generation of women, highlighting contemporary challenges and the role of education as an engine of emancipation: “The future is built with informed choices. When a young woman has access to knowledge, she gains not only autonomy but also the ability to redefine her own destiny.”
With this initiative, FSA reaffirms its commitment to creating inclusive spaces for learning and sharing, promoting the development of a more equitable, conscious, and future-oriented society.
The event, which brought together women of various ages and diverse fields of activity, was organized by the Salimo Abdula Foundation, in partnership with Nedbank, Techsolutions, and Sebastião Coana's studio.
The Salimo Abdula Foundation is a non-profit organization with a clear commitment to driving sustainable development and promoting initiatives with social impact.
