The Salimo Abdula Foundation (FSA) held a Christmas Solidarity gathering this Saturday with the children of the Arco-Íris Orphanage in the Zimpeto neighborhood of Maputo. The initiative, which brought together children, educators, and representatives of the Foundation, is part of the FSA's social impact program with institutions that protect children in Mozambique.
In addition to a special Christmas lunch, FSA provided school supplies, non-perishable food items, and clothing, giving the children a moment marked by joy, dignity, and hope. The event was further enriched with gestures of affection, direct interaction, and various recreational activities, reinforcing the importance of human presence and collective commitment to children in vulnerable situations.
The celebration featured the participation of the renowned Mozambican singer Neyma, who entertained everyone present with several performances. Meanwhile, contemporary artist Sebastião Coana engaged the children in a creative experience, interactively showing them the process of creating a painting and sparking their interest in artistic expression.
According to Jiyaad Abdula, administrator of the FSA, Christmas is, above all, about togetherness and shared joy. “That is exactly what the Foundation brings today: a day to smile, play and celebrate life. This gathering aims to create bonds and show that no one is alone. We believe that a better society is built with closeness, simple gestures and true love,” he stated. Jiyaad Abdula also highlighted the “silent, but profoundly transformative work” carried out by the orphanage.
In turn, Hermínio Muchave, Director of the Arco-Íris Orphanage, emphasized the significance of the gesture: “This support represents much more than material goods. It is a demonstration of affection and attention, which makes our children feel valued and remembered. We are deeply grateful to the Foundation for this solidarity.”
With this action, FSA reaffirms its ongoing commitment to sustainable social initiatives that promote inclusion, well-being and human development.FSA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development and fostering social impact initiatives. The Rainbow Orphanage, with capacity for 200 children, currently houses 107 minors, including children with special needs requiring differentiated care.
