"Tell Your Story" Festival Celebrates Youth Empowerment in Maputo

Plan International, the Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CDD), and the Mozambique Activist Movement have joined forces to host the "Tell Your Story Festival – Celebrating Youth Empowerment." The event, which will take place in Maputo, aims to celebrate the achievements of the SOU JOVEM project and the Mozambique Activist Movement, highlighting the life stories and inspiring journeys of young people.

Through a cultural, educational and participatory program, the festival seeks to value the diversity of voices, strengthen youth identity and promote a space for dialogue and recognition.

 Attendees will enjoy an event packed with attractions, including:

- Live music;

- Testimonials from project beneficiaries;

- Youth fair;

- Poetry and theater presentations;

- Screening of short films;

- Singing performances;

- Ceremony to recognize young champions;

- Networking sessions.

Implemented by Plan International and CDD, with co-financing from the European Union and Plan Finland, the SOU JOVEM project began on February 1, 2023. Its main objective is to promote the meaningful participation of young people in spaces for dialogue and decision-making.

 Throughout its implementation, the project has benefited more than 22,547 young people and directly supported 45 youth-led organizations across the country. Of these, 12 received funding to implement youth empowerment and participation initiatives.

Furthermore, the project created the “European Union Youth Consultation Group in Mozambique”, an advisory body that aims to incorporate the voice of young people into the EU's decision-making process.

 Other initiatives included engaging journalists, artists, and digital influencers through workshops and the “Young Portraits” contest, as well as promoting emerging talent through the “Young Screenwriter” and “Music Producer” contests.

 Join us in this celebration of the voice, creativity and power of Mozambican youth!
