Ninja Attacks Terrorize Santa Isabel Community in Maputo

In the Santa Isabel neighborhood of Marracuene district, Maputo province, residents are living in panic due to a series of robberies carried out by masked individuals calling themselves "ninjas." According to reports, the attacks occur at night, when criminals break into homes armed with machetes and other dangerous objects, threatening and brutally assaulting their victims.

The burglars' methods are reminiscent of action movie scenes: they are silent, wear dark clothing, and move quickly, making them difficult to apprehend. As a result, many families have lost valuables and money, but above all, they have lost the sense of security in their own homes. There are also reports of injuries and cases of psychological trauma, especially among children and the elderly who witness the invasions with terror.

Residents say they have reported the situation to local authorities, but the response has been slow and ineffective. "We live locked up, in fear. Even sleeping has become a risk. We've asked the police for help, but they still haven't reinforced surveillance," laments one resident. Faced with rising crime, the residents of Santa Isabel demand a firm response from the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), including regular night patrols and actions to dismantle organized groups spreading fear.

While awaiting formal intervention, the population tries to protect itself as best they can, resorting to improvised community watchtowers and reinforcing home security measures. However, the community is clear that these are palliative solutions, and the call for urgent and structured intervention from the authorities remains, essential to restoring order and restoring peace of mind to residents.
