Civil society, through the DECIDE Platform, has initiated a public consultation process in Sofala province. The initiative, aimed at gathering contributions for the Inclusive National Dialogue, began with activities at the Mateus São Mutemba Secondary School and in the busy Goto and Santa Isabel squares in the city of Beira.
During the meetings, students and motorcyclists shared their perspectives, and several proposals were presented. Among the most emphasized suggestions were the introduction of electronic voting, the creation of more jobs for young people, the need for a truly independent electoral body, a firm fight against vote theft, and absolute respect for the will expressed at the ballot box.
Later, the team also met with university students who, while acknowledging some progress in the country, highlighted a crucial problem: the exclusion of vulnerable communities due to lack of information and access. The academics also appealed for impartiality from community representatives and stressed strongly that "dialogue is not enough; action is needed."
In total, this consultation process will take place over two weeks, with DECIDE teams traveling across the country's three regions (North, Center, and South) to ensure that diverse voices are heard.
