Muslim Community School disagrees with ministerial decision

Despite the official postponement of the school year decreed by the Ministry of Education due to the floods in the south of the country, the Muslim Community School decided to ignore the order and summoned students to resume classes as early as next Monday, February 9, 2026. The measure, which aims to avoid the loss of the month's tuition, was communicated internally with the instruction that students attend "discreetly, without uniforms".

In early January, heavy rains caused severe flooding in the southern part of the country, leading the Ministry of Education to postpone the start of the school year, originally scheduled for February. In response, many schools decided to temporarily close their doors in solidarity with the victims and suspended the collection of tuition fees for that month.

However, the Muslim Community School took the opposite approach. Concerned about the financial impact, the institution chose to disregard the ministerial guidance and proceed with the school calendar. Consequently, it sent a notice to parents and guardians informing them that classes will resume on February 9th.

To avoid drawing attention, the school recommended that students attend "discreetly, without uniforms," so that the resumption of activities would go unnoticed. It is worth noting that this measure contradicts not only the government's decision but also the gesture of solidarity adopted by other educational institutions.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has yet to comment on the case. On the other hand, parents and guardians are questioning the prioritization of financial interests during a time of national emergency. Thus, the attitude of the Muslim Community School ignites the debate about the social responsibility of private institutions during crises.
