Muchanga from Renamo suspended and complains about lack of formality

António Muchanga, a founding member of Renamo, has been suspended from the party following statements considered explosive against the party's president, Ossufo Momade. The decision was communicated by the party leadership, but Muchanga claims he learned about it through the media and has not yet been formally notified.

At a time when Renamo is facing a growing loss of political weight, aggravated by recurring internal contradictions between its leadership and members, the party has decided to suspend António Muchanga, one of the historical figures of the former guerrilla group.

Muchanga, who has been a critical voice within the party, has recently made pronouncements against Ossufo Momade, which is believed to have motivated the disciplinary measure. However, the leader revealed that he has not yet received any official notification.

“I heard through the media that I was suspended, not expelled. I am awaiting the formal procedure so that I can then defend myself as is my right,” declared Muchanga, visibly dissatisfied with the way the case is being handled.

The suspension of the founding member exacerbates internal tensions in a party that, in recent years, has faced public divisions and difficulties in maintaining cohesion between the old guard and the current leadership.

To date, Renamo has not officially commented on the notification of disciplinary proceedings against Muchanga, remaining silent about the true details of the decision.
