ISUTC marks historic milestone with over 700 new students

Maputo, March 20, 2026- The Higher Institute of Transport and Communications (ISUTC) marked the opening of the 2026 Academic Year on Thursday, March 19th, in Maputo. This moment marks the growth and consolidation of the institution as a benchmark in the training of professionals in the country.

This year, ISUTC reached a historic milestone with the enrollment of approximately 730 new students in on-campus programs and around 130 in distance learning programs, figures that demonstrate confidence and growing demand for the institution.

Under the theme "Higher Education, Skills and National Development: The Student's Role in Building Mozambique," the ceremony highlighted the importance of higher education in training qualified professionals and citizens committed to the country's development.

On that occasion, the Director-General of ISUTC, Professor Dr. Engineer Fernando Leite, highlighted the institution's growing recognition, stating that "the numbers clearly indicate the prestige that ISUTC has earned over its 25 years of activity in Higher Education, and today it is a preferred institution in the job market."

The Director of Graduate Programs at ISUTC, Dr. Cheila Hoana, addressed the new students, reinforcing the transformative role of academic training.

“Your presence here today is, essentially, a declaration of commitment to your future and to the future of our country. Throughout your journey at ISUTC, you will be challenged, transformed, and prepared to leave your mark.”, he stated.

The ceremony also included the presence of Dr. Vitória Dias Diogo, former Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security and former Minister of State Administration and Public Service, who highlighted the role of higher education in training conscious citizens committed to the collective good. “You are being prepared to be protagonists of your own lives, being challenged to interact with each other and to think about the collective. Because, if we want to build the country, we have to step outside ourselves to think about others,” she stated.

In a speech marked by a strong component of citizenship and values, the former governor further emphasized that, "education not only gives us technical knowledge, but also shapes us as citizens." "Without empathy and solidarity, we will not build any country, because the exercise of citizenship implies recognizing that everything we do has an impact on others."

The Director-General of ISUTC also highlighted the strong link between ISUTC and the business sector, evidenced by the growing demand for graduates from companies, as well as the performance of graduates, recognized for their attitude, resilience, autonomy and professional commitment.

ISUTC thus reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, the comprehensive education of students, and an active contribution to the sustainable development of Mozambique.
