Ilesh Jani heads Global Task Force for Cholera Control

National Institutes of Health (NIH) researcher Ilesh Jani was recently elected to serve as Chair of the Global Task Force for Cholera Control (GTFCC). The GTFCC is a partnership involving more than 50 institutions, including the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, Africa CDC, Gavi, non-governmental organizations, academia, and civil society actors. It serves as a platform to support countries in implementing guidelines for cholera control and elimination. The GTFCC provides technical and scientific support to countries, including the development and implementation of national plans for cholera control and elimination, development of technical guidelines, advocacy and communication, and mobilization of financial and material resources. It serves as the global platform for coordination and collaborative technical assistance in the fight against cholera. Ilesh Jani has been a researcher at the NIH since 1998 and has extensive experience in public health. In addition to his commitment to public health in Mozambique, he has made a major contribution to international health as a member or president of several technical-scientific committees at a global level.
