FMBcapital Holdings Plc, which operates as First Capital Bank in Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe, recognises the importance of gender diversity in its leadership and workforce. In celebration of International Women’s Day and Mozambican Women’s Day, celebrated on 8 March and 7 April, the Group is highlighting its continued focus on identifying and promoting talent based on merit, creating opportunities for women to excel across the organisation. In Mozambique, First Capital Bank is currently led by women in several key areas, including the roles of Human Resources Director, Director and Deputy Director of Operations, Director of Marketing and Communications, Director of Accounting and Director of Internal Audit, in addition to other senior and middle management positions. At the Executive Committee (ExCo) level, the bank has Joana Marçal, COO (Chief Operating Officer) who, with 17 years of experience in the banking sector, brings a relevant operational perspective, with a special focus on international operations, trade finance and operational management of branches. In turn, Krishnah Ramechandra, Director of Business Banking and Retail, with 24 years of experience in the sector, contributes with her focus on commercial strategy and business development. At the Board of Directors level, Paula Duarte Rocha holds the position of Independent Non-Executive Director, bringing a strategic vision and solid experience in areas such as international finance, regulation and corporate governance. In total, First Capital Bank employs 1,855 people in the five countries in which it operates, with 50.8% of the workforce composed of women. Women represent 41% of leadership positions and 54% of non-management positions.
