In the context of the floods that are devastating southern and central Mozambique, the population of Xai-Xai has been traveling to the province of Inhambane to purchase basic necessities. Among these, fuel, particularly diesel, has become one of the most sought-after items.
However, this intense and sudden demand is rapidly depleting the province's reserves. According to local sources, Inhambane is at the limit of its reserves, both of gasoline and diesel, jeopardizing mobility and the supply of essential services in the region.
Faced with this critical scenario, business owners in the sector are beginning to consider emergency solutions. The main alternative under study is traveling to Sofala province, specifically to the city of Beira, to acquire new fuel shipments and replenish stock. This option, however, faces significant logistical and security challenges due to road conditions and the country's weather situation.
The situation illustrates the chain reaction of severe weather events, where a crisis in one region overwhelms the resources of neighboring areas, requiring a coordinated and urgent response to prevent a complete collapse of supplies.
