The recently inaugurated road linking Intaka to Boquisso, in the municipality of Matola, is already generating concern and indignation among residents and motorists. Immediately after the official inauguration by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, the problem of rainwater accumulation resurfaced in several sections of the road, leading the population to question the quality and effectiveness of the work.
As reported and documented on social media over the weekend, some sections of the road were completely flooded, severely hindering traffic and posing a considerable danger to pedestrians and drivers. According to residents, the drainage problem is longstanding, and the road rehabilitation was expected to definitively resolve it – something they claim has not happened. “The water continues to accumulate in the same places as always, even with the supposed improvements. We don't know if it's a technical fault or poor workmanship,” lamented one resident.
To make matters worse, poor visibility and the depth of the puddles have already resulted in minor accidents, including collisions with poles and poorly marked structures. Given the seriousness of the situation, the population is demanding urgent intervention from the municipal authorities and the contractor responsible, especially with the rainy season continuing. To date, however, none of the entities involved have officially commented on the matter.
