Knowledge is essential to avoid manipulation in various areas of life, such as politics, economics, health, social relations, etc. Knowledge is understood as the understanding and awareness of information, facts, skills, or experiences acquired through learning or lived experience. It can also be seen as the ability to understand and apply information, concepts, and theories to make decisions and solve problems. This means that without knowledge about a given area of knowledge, we can influence decision-making or accept what we shouldn't, thus allowing others to achieve their goals by bypassing our very being. We have explicit knowledge, which can be expressed in words or numbers, or facts, concepts, and theories. In addition, we have tacit knowledge, which is difficult to express in words and numbers, such as skills and experiences. We also have declarative knowledge, which deals with facts and concepts, and finally, procedural knowledge, which is how to do something. Knowledge is characterized by being complex or simple depending on the context and depth of the information, as well as the contextuality that has to do with the context in which it is acquired and applied. Another no less important dimension is subjectivity because it is influenced by individual perspectives, and finally, dynamism, because knowledge is constantly evolving, as new information and discoveries are made. Hence, knowledge becomes crucial because it enables individuals to make informed and effective decisions. It also aids problem-solving, as it is essential for solving complex problems and finding creative solutions. Knowledge also serves as a driver of innovation and progress, and also aids personal and professional development. Knowledge develops critical analysis skills, allowing people to identify and question dubious information. It helps individuals resist propaganda and manipulation, fostering a more objective view of reality. With knowledge, individuals gain autonomy and independence, allowing people to make their own choices and decisions. Knowledge is essential for active and informed citizen participation, enabling people to contribute to political and social decision-making. A lack of knowledge in a given area can lead to vulnerability, manipulation, and exploitation. It can also lead to the dissemination of false or misleading information. It can lead to a loss of autonomy and independence, making people more dependent on others. It can also give rise to preconceptions, hindering informed decision-making. To avoid falling prey to a lack of knowledge, the following mechanisms must be developed: Education, which is essential to promote knowledge and the ability to critically analyze; Access to information, which is essential to promote knowledge and informed decision-making; Critical thinking, which is essential to analyze information and make informed decisions; Continuous learning is essential to keep knowledge up-to-date and relevant. In short, knowledge is fundamental to avoiding manipulation and promoting informed decision-making. It is important to promote education, access to information, and critical thinking to develop a more informed and autonomous society.2025/12/3
