The people continue to live. "ON THE THRESHOLD OF POVERTY" Daniel Chapo is unfathomable

Afonso Almeida Brandão"

It's well known that he has below-average intellect and zero charisma. For us, however, the great enigma is the fact that — excluding those who pretend to be his admirers of the "nonsense" because they are "part of the club" and have a cow to milk — the truth is that Daniel Chapo is not known to have a single admirer, a single fan who can be cited as an example. Joaquim ChissanoHe had fans, Armando Guebuza had legions of fans, God knows how many fans Filipe Nyusi had, although he lacked the charisma of a leader. And regarding Chapo's family, and as far as we know, nobody is a fan of his (or so the gossips assure us). And yet, HE climbed the political ladder, stealthily, to the top. This mystery deepens when one tries to understand how someone with such a lack of magnetism, of flair, of narrative, managed to successfully pass the electoral sieve, although we know it was thanks to the trickery that existed, at the "electioneering" level, at the national level, that would lead to his false victory—indeed, successively verified since the distant year of 1975, with FRELIMO always "winning" the "perch" of governance, at the helm of Mozambique's destiny!!!...) He did it without fervor, but naturally, as if he had always been destined for the position, even though he possessed neither the qualities nor the popularity for it, unlike Venâncio Mondlane, who should have been in the Ponta Vermelha Palace as President of the Republic of Mozambique—but that's another matter for our analysts—who proliferate on the usual television channels in our country—without having the courage to dot the i's and cross the t's... Having arrived here, let's say that Daniel Chapo represented an osmosis victory, the triumph of apathy. With the aggravating factor that he knew perfectly well that he hadn't won the Presidential Elections. Besides lacking poise, he had neither character nor a "drop of dignity," as his obligation was to have refused such an appointment for the sake of truth. But the "gift" was greater than the "greed"... Daniel Chapo is nothing more than a simple fellow who inspires no enthusiasm in anyone, and it was in this way, like a ghost in slippers, that he arrived at the position of making the most important collective decisions. It's a worrying level of civic fatigue when we accept that someone nobody likes makes decisions for everyone, "because if you're not with us, you're against us"... and someone will take care of your health. This lack of public esteem isn't just a sociological detail: it has considerably reduced his margin for error from day one. Without emotional credibility—neither with the people, nor with the cameras of photojournalists, nor the echo of spotlights from camera operators and journalists—every stumble is amplified in a way that those of his predecessors were not. We are not expressing pity: indeed, his performance has certainly not won him any fans along the way. Obtaining leadership when nobody liked him or FRELIMO anymore was not an auspicious start, and everything that followed his inauguration to the position to which he was appointed, let's face it, the situation was not promising. In his favor, it ended up being much worse, as the people's discontent was widespread... It was already difficult to protect the sanctity of Democracy when it gave birth to mediocrity that people liked; now, unpopular mediocrity is a new backdrop. And the People's Hope prevails ever more evidently, notwithstanding continuing to live below the Poverty Threshold and without any Future on the Threshold of the Horizon...
