Afonso Almeida Brandão"
Saltoman moyanaHe is clearly one of the most powerful, accurate and professional journalistic minds in the field of public opinion on television in Mozambique, alongside Tomás Veira Mário and Fernando Lima. Some of his opinions — and his texts that we already knew from the time of the daily newspaper NOTÍCIAS and, later, in the editorials he wrote for the weekly newspaper SAVANA that we knew and followed — as well as those he later published in the magazine INDEPENDENTE in the 2000s — were already sufficient evidence of this. His lively, serious and forceful opinion, on the television channel MBC — on the current social and political affairs that are “breathed” in Mozambique — proves this clearly. The approach he takes each week on the subjects he presents to viewers is, without a doubt, particularly appropriate, pertinent and current. He is, in fact, one of the most resonant voices in our Social Communication, that is, a “living philosophy in terms of opinion testimony”. The Journalist exposes and discusses, through the MBC Channel to which he is linked, every Sunday, the most widespread themes “on equal terms” — which, if in other cases it would be merely pretentious, in this particular case it is simply the best way — or rather, the only way — to shed more light on them in a personal and active way, valuing as he does the Opinion among us. Axe of Grace, the most powerful and missed philosophical spirit of the Second Half of the 20th Century in Mozambique, wrote that “when we express an opinion with characteristics equal to the voice of Salomão Moyana we must give all the strength to his thought” — as he also defended, citing Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860), “such an attitude is, in relation to those who privilege Opinion, the most appropriate and is, for our own thought in terms of opinion-based approach, the most beneficial”. And, therefore, we can add in his regard “that in the general opinion of other political analysts in our area, Salomão Moyana’s voice is the one that stands out the most, even due to the way he approaches and analyses issues, without “mincing his words”, with the truth and also with the directness that characterizes him and that we have long since become accustomed to, without comparison with any other television commentator we know. “But the task of criticism has never been to diminish the highest to the level of the lowest” as the late Portuguese journalist, Baptista-Bastos (1934-2017), wrote. In this brilliant TV programme presented on Sundays on MBC, Salomão Moyana also proves to be, in this respect, a decisive and timely voice in Mozambique — because he also “gives all the strength”, or all the light possible, to the issues he addresses, speaking openly about everything and everyone. We say “more opinions” because, despite the topics he brings to us week after week, on Sundays, are all different, the truth is that they clearly demonstrate his solid training and professionalism. In short, this programme presented by the MBC channel is one of the best we have in Mozambique, within the genre of Opinião Livre, hosted by the journalist Salomão Moyana who has undergone/is undergoing his “baptism of fire” and proves (to our rulers, politicians, officials and “distracted” public figures) that we have among us yet another forceful space worthy of our applause. Because there are not many — with a capital B equivalent to the designation Brilliant — we must warmly salute this colleague. Mozambican Opinion — which should also be allusive to the Countries that make up the CPLP, as it would be appropriate to mention (and include) — really needs you, Salomão Moyana. And for that, our Press is to be congratulated2025/12/3
