Mozambican politician and prominent member of the opposition, Venâncio Mondlane, also known as VM7, announced this Tuesday, June 24, that he has been officially notified by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) to appear before the aforementioned institution next Friday, June 27, at 9:00 am. The information was released through his official page on the social network Facebook.
According to Mondlane's publication, the notification received comes with a clear warning: if he does not appear on the scheduled date and time, he may be subject to arrest. “VM7 notified to be at the PGR on June 27, Friday, at 9:00 am, with a warning of 'DETENTION' if he does not appear!!!”, wrote the politician.
So far, the reasons for the summons have not been officially revealed, which has generated much speculation among public opinion. Analysts and sources close to the politician suggest that the situation may be related to his recent critical positions regarding the Government and the ongoing electoral process.
Venâncio Mondlane is known for being one of the most active voices in the opposition, having stood out in recent years for his firm speech and strategic use of social media for mobilization and denunciation.
Civil society organizations and human rights organizations are following the case closely, highlighting the importance of respecting legal guarantees and the fundamental rights of any citizen, regardless of their political position.
