“Two Lost Souls on a Dirty Night” at CCFM

Mahamba Criações e Produções Artísticas takes to the stage at the Auditorium of the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center (CCFM), this Friday (14), at 6:00 pm, to present the theatrical piece “Dois Perdidos Numa Noite Suja”, as part of the second edition of the Maputo em Cena Festival.

The play follows Paco and Tonho, two merchandise porters known as "Gai-Gai," marginalized in the Central Market, whose differing ambitions and living conditions give rise to the central conflict of the narrative.

While Paco is portrayed as a man marked by provocative and aggressive tendencies, Tonho harbors the desire to improve his life, value his studies, get a job, and become a source of pride for his parents.

It is in the realization of these desires that the main conflict between the two characters arises. To get his much-desired job, Tonho needs a new pair of shoes, but Paco, who owns the shoes, refuses to lend them. At the same time, Paco dreams of getting a new piano so he can earn money as an artist. It is in the clash between their desires that the play reaches its point of greatest tension.

The adaptation and staging are by Mária Atália Adamugy, with performances by Dadivo José and Edu All Talents, and production by Mário Mazive. The show lasts one hour.

The performance is part of the Maputo in Scene Festival program, which takes place from August 13 to 22, bringing together different proposals from Mozambican performing arts in various cultural spaces in the city of Maputo.
