Tree Fall That Served as a Classroom in Boquisso Exposes Risk in Schools

An incident at the Boquisso Primary School in Matola has sounded an alarm about the safety of students and teachers: a tree that was being used as a classroom fell. The case dramatically exposes the precarious teaching conditions and raises serious concerns about the school infrastructure in the region.

In response to the incident, Danilo Ventura, Director of the District Education Service in Matola, expressed concern. He assured that instructions have already been given to cut down any tree that poses a danger to students. "We are working to ensure that our schools are safe places for children to learn," he stated.

In addition to the immediate measure, Ventura highlighted that there is an ongoing effort to build new classrooms, with the aim of replacing makeshift spaces. "We recognize that the road is long, but we are committed to improving the conditions of our schools," he added.

Faced with this scenario, the educational community is calling for a quick and definitive solution. "It is essential that children have a safe and suitable environment to learn in," lamented one parent, echoing the sentiment of many.

This event serves as an urgent warning about the critical need to invest in safe school infrastructure. The priority is to guarantee not only well-being, but also the right to a quality education in an environment that preserves the integrity of all.
