Throne Day Speech: King of Morocco highlights stability, economic growth and national sovereignty

In a speech marking the 27th anniversary of his accession to the throne yesterday, July 29, King Mohammed VI of Morocco reviewed the last few years of his reign, highlighting political and institutional stability, economic growth, and the strengthening of the international position of that North African kingdom.

Among the main points, the monarch stated that the country is going through a decisive phase of its development, arguing that confidence and optimism should prevail over pessimistic discourse. He emphasized that security, stability, and the functioning of institutions constitute Morocco's main strategic assets in an international context marked by crises and tensions.

In economic terms, Mohammed VI revealed that the Moroccan economy grew by approximately 4.9% in 2025, with a similar or higher performance expected in 2026. He also highlighted the recovery of agriculture, driven by good rainfall, reinforcing the country's water and food security.

The King of the Berber Nation also emphasized Morocco's industrial transformation, highlighting that the country has become Africa's largest car exporter, with the capacity to produce around one million vehicles per year. He also mentioned the growth of the aeronautical, renewable energy, electric battery, and green hydrogen sectors, pointing to them as pillars of the new Moroccan economy.

In the area of ​​strategic sovereignty, he highlighted that the agri-food and pharmaceutical industries already ensure around 80% of national needs, while the country invests in the development of the defense, cybersecurity, and clean energy industries.

Tourism also recorded a historic performance in 2025, with almost 20 million visitors, consolidating itself as one of the engines of the economy.

In the social sphere, the Maghreb sovereign reaffirmed his commitment to expanding social protection, reducing territorial inequalities, and promoting integrated development programs, while also advocating for greater support from the financial sector for small and medium-sized enterprises, innovation, and exports.

In foreign policy, the monarch stated that Morocco has consolidated its status as a credible and influential international partner, reinforcing its strategy of diversifying international partnerships.

The speech concluded with a message of confidence in the future, appealing for the country to begin a new cycle of development after the upcoming legislative elections, based on the continuity of reforms, the preservation of achievements already attained, and the implementation of major new projects. He also paid tribute to the Armed Forces, security forces, and other institutions responsible for defending the unity, stability, and security of Morocco.
