Vodacom Mozambique announces that Salimo Abdula assumed the Presidency of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the company on July 1st, for a three-year term. Elected by consensus of the shareholders, the businessman succeeds Lucas Chachine, whose term has come to an end.
For Vodacom, the arrival of Salimo Abdula represents the return of a figure deeply connected to the company's history. A long-standing shareholder through the Intelec Holdings Group, which has been part of the operator's capital since 2007, Salimo Abdula has previously chaired the Board of Directors of Vodacom Mozambique and, for the past three years, also led the Board of Directors of Vodafone M-Pesa. This background gives him in-depth knowledge of the business, the telecommunications ecosystem, and the country's financial inclusion agenda.
Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Intelec Holdings, a group operating in strategic sectors such as energy, telecommunications, finance, mineral resources and tourism, Salimo Abdula is one of the most influential figures in the Mozambican business landscape. He was President of the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) and President of the Business Confederation of the CPLP (CE-CPLP), with a recognized contribution to the promotion of investment, entrepreneurship and the empowerment of national private initiative. At the start of their term, Vodacom's leadership reaffirms the company's commitment to expanding and improving the quality of its network, rural connectivity, and the ongoing agenda to accelerate the digitalization of the Mozambican economy, consolidating the operator's position as a partner in the country's development and in the daily lives of Mozambicans.
“It is with an enormous sense of responsibility that I return to the presidency of the Board of Directors of Vodacom Mozambique, a company I know well and in which I deeply believe. I inherit a solid legacy and I am committed to continuing a people-centered strategy of connecting every Mozambican, bringing services and capabilities closer, and contributing to a closer, more cohesive, inclusive and competitive country, with telecommunications as its foundation,” says Salimo Abdula, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vodacom Mozambique.
Vodacom Mozambique also expresses its appreciation to Lucas Chachine for the work he carried out during his tenure, which strengthened the company's market position and its contribution to Mozambican society.
