Maputo, May 19, 2026 –Mozambican driver Rodrigo Almeida made a winning debut for Toyota Gazoo Racing Caetano Portugal, taking the opening race of the GT4 season at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão, a round counting towards the Iberian Supercars and the Portuguese Speed Championship.
At the wheel of the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, Rodrigo Almeida teamed up with Francisco Mora in a 50-minute race, where strategy, consistency, and teamwork were key to the final result.
In the first race of the weekend, Mora and Almeida took the lead in the decisive phase of the race and managed their advantage until the checkered flag, winning the overall race.
The weekend was also marked by another podium finish in the second race. After their victory the previous day, the Toyota Gazoo Racing Caetano Portugal duo faced the regulatory handicap applied due to their success in the first race, but remained among the protagonists, finishing third in the GT4 Pro category and in a relevant position for the championship standings.
“It was a weekend of hard work, consistency and team spirit. We achieved a very important victory in the first race and scored crucial points again in the second race. We leave Portimão as leaders and even more motivated for what's to come. We will continue to fight.”, stated Rodrigo Almeida.
The driver also expressed his gratitude to the team, his teammate Francisco Mora, and everyone who followed the competitive weekend. “Thank you to everyone who supported us every step of the way. These results are the fruit of the entire team's hard work and give us even more confidence for the upcoming races,” he added.
