Rodrigo Almeida leads Mozambique to the top of the podium in Portugal

Maputo, July 15, 2026Mozambican driver Rodrigo Almeida secured a victory and another podium finish at the Vila Real International Circuit in Portugal, reinforcing his lead in the Portuguese Speed ​​Championship.

In their debut on one of the most demanding European street circuits, Rodrigo Almeida and his teammate, Francisco Mora, won the first race of the third round of the Supercars Endurance, held on the weekend of July 10-12.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing Caetano Portugal duo, driving a Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, finished the day with one victory and two top-four finishes.

In the first race, Francisco Mora started from pole position and maintained the lead during the initial phase. After the mandatory pit stop and driver change, Rodrigo Almeida took the wheel and held onto first place until the checkered flag, resisting pressure from his rivals during the decisive part of the race.

The overall victory allowed the pair to increase their lead in the Portuguese Speed ​​Championship, in a round that was part of the 55th edition of the Vila Real International Circuit and watched by thousands of spectators.

“It was a weekend of great performance. This was my first time in Vila Real, on a circuit that presents a very particular challenge, but we managed to overcome it with determination and a tremendous amount of hard work from the whole team.”Rodrigo Almeida stated.

In the second race, marked by several incidents and neutralization periods, Rodrigo Almeida and Francisco Mora once again finished among the leaders. The duo achieved fourth place in the overall standings and climbed to the third step of the podium in the GT4 Bronze category.
