Rasaque Manhique instructs EMIM to support the reconstruction of stalls

Following the fire that broke out in the early hours of Saturday at the Xikhelene Market, the Mayor of Maputo, Rasaque Manhique, took immediate measures to minimize the impact on the affected traders. He instructed the Maputo Municipal Infrastructure Company (EMIM) to provide support in rebuilding the stalls destroyed by the flames.

The fire destroyed several stalls and caused significant losses to the vendors, who saw their activities interrupted. Given this situation, the City Council intends, with this measure, to create conditions so that the merchants can resume their activities as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the initiative aims to guarantee the livelihood of families who depend directly on selling at the market. In this way, the reconstruction of the stalls not only restores normalcy to the commercial space, but also ensures the continuity of family income for those affected
