The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) arrested three young men, aged between 23 and 30, suspected of being part of a group involved in robberies of homes and commercial establishments in the district of Marracuene, in Maputo province.
According to information gathered, the arrests occurred after a failed robbery attempt at a commercial establishment. During the investigation, the three suspects admitted their involvement in the crime, with one of them having a history of similar criminal activity.
The suspects claimed that they had consumed alcoholic beverages before carrying out the act, justifying this fact as one of the reasons that led them to participate in the robbery.
The spokesperson for the Provincial Command of the PRM (Police of the Republic of Mozambique) in Maputo, Carminha Leite, stated that those arrested are considered members of a gang responsible for various crimes in the region. Among the cases attributed to them is the break-in and theft at a school located in the municipality of Marracuene.
The police say that investigations are ongoing with the aim of determining the suspects' possible involvement in other crimes and identifying potential accomplices.
