The Commercial and Investment Bank (BCI) Auditorium hosted, on Tuesday (5), the launch of "Missangas e Tributo", the debut book by Mozambican writer Chido-Che-Moyo, pseudonym of Olavo Alberto Deniasse.
Comprising approximately 60 poems, the work is a celebration of Mozambique's identity, memory, and cultural richness. Throughout the book, the author recovers historical figures, significant places, and values that help preserve the national legacy, while also paying homage to patriots, nationalists, and pan-Africanists who contributed to building a more just Mozambique and Africa.
The publication also pays special attention to the historical legacy of the sons of Makombe, a designation given to the sovereigns of the ancient Kingdom of Báruè. More than a historical reference, Báruè symbolizes the courage, resistance, and affirmation of the dignity of a people. Its history, marked by the defense of freedom and autonomy in the face of colonial occupation, remains a source of inspiration for current and future generations.
By evoking this heritage, Missangas e Tributo invites the reader to preserve collective memory and reflect on the contribution of those who helped build the identity and history of Mozambique.
Speaking at the ceremony, BCI representative Telma Jorge, coordinator of the Media Libraries, congratulated the author on his creativity and commitment to valuing Mozambican history and culture, emphasizing that works of this nature play a relevant role in preserving collective memory and strengthening collective identity.
The official also reaffirmed BCI's commitment to promoting culture, literature, and historical heritage, highlighting that supporting cultural initiatives represents a way of investing in knowledge, valuing national authors, and building a future based on preserving the country's identity and memory.
Visibly moved, Olavo Alberto Deniasse thanked BCI for their hospitality and support during the book launch. "Thank you very much, BCI. You truly belong to everyone," said the writer, adding enthusiastically that he felt "compelled to return to this auditorium to launch another book."
The ceremony took place in an atmosphere of cultural celebration, bringing together family members, writers, academics, guests, and literature lovers, providing moments of fellowship, sharing experiences, and strengthening networks of relationships around the appreciation of Mozambican literary production.
