After a week of interruption due to flooding, passenger rail service will resume. According to a statement from Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM), Southern Executive Directorate, delivered to our newsroom, services on the affected lines will be restored from January 26, 2026.
Specifically, the resumption covers the Goba line, serving the Matola Gare, Manhiça and Marracuene routes. This measure also includes the Ressano Garcia and Limpopo lines.
It is important to note that the service interruption was due to adverse weather conditions that affected the region. Now, with the situation normalizing, the company is proceeding with the full restoration of services. Therefore, the resumption of passenger trains is part of the company's broader effort to ensure the full circulation of goods and people, thus contributing to the normalization of life in the affected areas.
