
French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu reaffirmed on Thursday, July 16, in Rabat, his country's "unwavering" position in support of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara. "This position, I repeat here, is unwavering. It will not change and, as you know, we are drawing all the necessary conclusions," declared Lecornu during a press conference following the High-Level Meeting he co-chaired with the Moroccan Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch. He further stressed that "France remains loyal and faithfully by Morocco's side," highlighting the "clarity" of the position expressed by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, in his message to King Mohammed VI of Morocco on the occasion of the Feast of the Throne, July 30, 2024.
In this message, President Macron officially stated that he considers the present and future of the Sahara to be within the scope of Moroccan sovereignty.
The 15th session of the Morocco-France High-Level Meeting took place this Thursday, highlighting the strengthening of the exceptional partnership between Morocco and France, under the leadership of the two Heads of State, King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron.
