The Mozambican Under-17 Women's National Team put on a gala display today (Monday, May 12), beating their Mauritian counterparts 11-0 in the second round of Group B of the 2025 COSAFA Under-17 Women's Cup.
Played at the Hage Gengob Stadium, with the match starting at 12 noon, the match was dominated by the Nyeletinhas from the opening whistle. In the first half, Mozambique were already leading 4-0, the result of a dynamic attack and a solid defense that neutralized any attempt by the opposition to react.
In the second half, Mozambique's superiority increased with seven more goals, bringing the score to an impressive 11-0.
The goals were scored by: Tennyson (6'), Houana (18'), Edite Fernando (37'), Sunila Luckubary (45+‘), Armance (62’), Bila (68'), Thandy Nassone (73'), Jessica Andicene (84', 90', 90+‘) and Yolanda Zavale (86’).
Sunila Luckubary was voted the best player on the pitch after a brilliant performance.
With this result, Mozambique achieved their first win in the competition and now have three points, occupying second place in Group B. Zambia lead the way with the same three points, but have the advantage in the head-to-head. Mauritius remain in last place, still without a point.
