The new digital e-Visa system, recently launched in Maputo at a ceremony led by the President of the Republic, marks a significant step in modernizing the country's visa processing system and strengthening its position as an accessible global travel destination.
It is also anticipated that the next-generation e-Visa system will play a key role in the international promotion of Mozambique, through a planned tourism promotion program that leverages the digital platform and a vast international network to support the growth of visitor arrivals, in line with government tourism objectives.
Supported by VFS Global – a world leader in trusted technology services that promote secure mobility for governments and citizens – the new digital platform integrates advanced automation, data security frameworks, and cloud-based architecture, allowing travelers from 183 countries to submit online visa applications for Mozambique through a secure and fully integrated e-Visa solution that manages the administrative and non-decisional aspects of visa applications.
The solution covers multiple Visa and ETA categories, including Tourism, Business, Transshipment Crew, Sports and Culture, Humanitarian Assistance, Oil and Gas, with lengths of stay ranging from short-term to long-term visas up to two years, all through a single, unified system.
According to VFS Global's Commercial Director, Jiten Vyas, it is a privilege to partner with the Government of Mozambique on this important digital transformation initiative, which reflects a shared commitment to facilitating safe and efficient global mobility.
“The new platform introduces modern digital capabilities, reinforcing Mozambique’s commitment to welcoming the world through secure, efficient, and technology-driven mobility solutions. As part of its implementation, the e-Visa project supports local employment and capacity building, thus contributing to skills development and job creation in the country,” the manager points out.
Designed to provide a seamless user experience, the platform offers intuitive navigation, AI-powered passport data extraction, an integrated photo editor, and a secure international payment gateway, allowing applicants to complete the process before their trip. It is fully adaptable to different devices and features 24/7 multilingual customer support.
Developed based on a scalable cloud architecture, the platform ensures high performance, real-time monitoring, and uninterrupted availability. All requests are verified for quality by a dedicated back-office team operating 24/7 in Mozambique and protected in accordance with global security and data protection standards.
VFS Global has experience providing its digital e-visa platform to 12 governments, including Thailand, Indonesia, Dubai, South Africa, Brazil, Equatorial Guinea, Azerbaijan, and Suriname, among others.
