Desportivo de Maputo defeated Ntsondzo at the 11-meter mark by 5-4 after a 0-0 draw in regular time without opening the score in the game corresponding to the 1st round of the Mozambique Cup, Maputo city stage, held last Saturday (12) at Campo do Costa do Sol.
The Ntsondzo team entered the game strongly, taking control of the match as it is a team that is reinforced by some players who played in Moçambola, such as Elton Mahumane and Elton Oliveira, the first central defender and the second defensive midfielder all coming from the now defunct Brera Tchumene.
The first dangerous move came from Desportivo de Maputo in the 20th minute. Milton was unable to score what would have been the first goal of the game after a poorly-executed clearance from Ntsondzo's defense, but goalkeeper Kidiaba denied the Alvi-negro player.
8 minutes, that is, at 28 minutes, Tapete, a defender from Desportivo's net, was tested and stopped a shot from Tony and the score remained nil, and with this result the two teams went to half-time.
In the second half, there was not much of a spectacle, Zé fired a powerful shot from the middle of the street in the 79th minute, which went over Tapete's goal and with this result the two teams decided the game on penalties after a goalless draw during the 90 minutes.
Carpet saves penalty from Elton Mahumane
The penalty shootout started off intensely, all the players who were at the 11-meter mark shot with complete calm and coolness, and the ball was perfectly placed, all the goalkeepers were well beaten.
Desportivo's goalkeeper, Tapete, saved Ntsondzo's last penalty, taken by Elton Mahumane who calmly took it but Tapete threw himself to the ground and blocked the goal, leaving the decision of the game to his teammate Zito who beat Kidiaba and sealed passage to the second phase of the Mozambique Cup.
In other games, Mahafil eliminated Liga Desportiva de Maputo by winning 2-1, Ferroviário das Mahotas defeated, also on penalties, Vulcano by 4-2, after a 1-1 draw in regular time.
Matchedje opted for minimum services to defeat the Special Eagles 1-0.
