The President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Francisco Chapo, congratulated António José Seguro on Monday on his election as the VI President of the Portuguese Republic, expressing his wishes for success and his willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation.

Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo sent a congratulatory message to António José Seguro following the confirmation of the results of the second round of the Portuguese presidential elections, held on February 8.

In the statement, the Mozambican Head of State began by highlighting that he had followed the entire electoral process "with great interest and expectation." He then expressed, on behalf of the Mozambican people, the government, and himself, his best wishes for Seguro's new term.

On the other hand, the Mozambican statesman considered that the election reflects the confidence placed by the Portuguese people in guiding the country's destiny in a global context of challenges. He added, however, that he is convinced that relations between the two countries will be deepened. “We are convinced that, with Your Excellency's presence in Belém, the traditional and excellent relations (…) will continue to be elevated to new levels,” he emphasized.

Along the same lines, Daniel Chapo reaffirmed his full willingness to cooperate with the new Portuguese President. "In this regard, I would like to express my complete availability to work with Your Excellency, ensuring that our two countries continue to cooperate for common progress," he stressed.

In conclusion, the Mozambican President reiterated his wishes for success to António José Seguro and wished prosperity to the Portuguese people.
