Morocco names Africa's longest highway after Donald Trump

King Mohammed VI has decided to name the Tiznit-Dakhla highway, a road spanning over 1,055 kilometers and considered the largest road infrastructure in Africa, after US President Donald J. Trump.

According to Moroccan authorities, the decision symbolizes the strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States and recognizes the role played by Trump in strengthening bilateral relations, particularly after the US recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara, announced in 2020 and now reaffirmed by the US administration.

In a letter sent to the President of the United States, King Mohammed VI highlighted that the infrastructure represents a strategic axis linking northern and southern Morocco and strengthening the connection between Europe and Africa. In the letter, the Moroccan sovereign emphasizes that "although our relations have always been based on close friendship and unwavering loyalty, they have never been as vigorous and fruitful as during your two presidential terms."

"In homage to this testament of friendship and peace, and as a personal expression of my highest regard, I have decided to name one of the Kingdom's most important road infrastructures 'Donald J. Trump Highway'," emphasizes Mohammed VI.

In response, Donald Trump thanked them for the tribute via the social network Truth Social, calling it "a huge honor" and expressing his desire to travel that road in the future.

Integrated into the development model of the Southern Provinces, the highway improves mobility, reduces travel time, and strengthens the Moroccan Atlantic corridor, considered one of the main projects for economic and commercial integration between Morocco and the countries of West Africa.
