The internationally acclaimed Mozambican saxophonist, composer, and cultural ambassador Moreira Chonguiça has just renewed his contract as an Ambassador for Henri Selmer Paris. This partnership, which has already lasted 20 years, consolidates his position alongside some of the greatest legends of world jazz.
To celebrate the renewal, Chonguiça took a qualitative leap: transitioning from his old "Silver Sax" to the prestigious "Selmer Signature" Gold Series. The new equipment includes the signature saxophone, the "G" Soloist mouthpiece, and Selmer Jazz 3:25 reeds.
“I feel extremely honored and pleasantly surprised. After 20 years, exchanging my saxophone for another one with superior articulation will make African melodies sound better than ever,” the musician shared.
With a career spanning more than two decades breaking boundaries, Moreira Chonguiça sees his journey recognized by one of the most historic brands in the sector. Henri Selmer Paris, a family business that has been manufacturing high-quality wind instruments since 1885, includes the Mozambican musician on its list of ambassadors alongside legendary names such as:
Kenny Garrett (alto saxophone), who played with Miles Davis;
Steve Coleman, known for his work with Cassandra Wilson and Dave Holland;
Chris Potter, who joined the project of super-guitarist Pat Metheny;
Marcus Miller (bass clarinet), a super producer who contributed to the history of jazz;
Sonny Rollins, one of the greatest living legends of the tenor saxophone;
Manu Dibango, among others.
