Mincanhine was the big winner of the Marracuene Municipal Tournament which ended yesterday, Sunday, April 27th, with the final games and the awarding of 3rd place which took place at Campo da Vila in that Municipality.
In the final game, the Mincanhine team beat Pussulane 3-2 in a truly epic clash, where the champion team was twice behind. Pussulane, the team with the most fans, came out strong and determined to win the title and take with them other prizes offered by the city council. Armando scored an early goal in the 4th minute which further galvanized the competitive spirit between the two teams. Sergio equalized, but Armando scored again with a brace in the 31st minute of the game and with this result (2-1) both teams went to half-time.
In the second half, Mincanhine did not throw in the towel, he came back stronger and Sérgio scored again for the equalizer (2-2). With equality restored.
The hero of the game was the usual suspect, Sérgio, who scored the hat-trick and the final goal that secured the trophy for the first edition of the tournament organised by the Municipality of Marracuene.
The winning team, Mincanhine, took home a cash prize of 200,000 meticais, a head of beef, a cup and medals, while Pussulane took home 150,000 meticais, five goats, a cup and medals. On August 15th, the 3rd placed team also took home 100,000 meticais, 50 chickens, a cup and medals.
The final was honoured with the presence of Mozambican sports figures such as the Minister of Youth and Sports, Caifadine Manasse, the governor of Maputo province, the district administrator, former players such as Dário Monteiro, Tico-Tico, Sérgio Faife Matsolo and Victor Magaia, and the president of the national football referees' commission, Francisco Machel, was also present.
