Marracuene on High Alert: Floods Isolate Macaneta and Close Main Roads

The Municipality of Marracuene has issued an urgent alert to the population due to the intense flooding that is isolating the Macaneta area, caused by the overflowing of the Incomáti River. The situation is critical: the Macaneta tollbooth and a large section of the paved road are completely submerged, resulting in the total closure of traffic to Hobjana and causing serious disruptions to the main road in Machubo.

It is important to note that the rising water levels, which began late yesterday, continue to increase, continuously worsening the situation and making access to the region increasingly difficult.

Given the seriousness of the situation, municipal authorities are strongly urging the public to avoid traveling in the affected areas. A specific warning has been issued about the extreme danger of attempting to cross the flooded areas, whether on foot or by vehicle. They also emphasize the vital importance of following official guidelines and staying away from flooded areas, as the situation continues to evolve in a worrying manner.

In this context, it is crucial that residents remain attentive to official information channels, given that the situation can change rapidly. Authorities also request everyone's cooperation with rescue teams on the ground, reinforcing that the absolute priority is safeguarding human life.

Finally, the Government and the Municipality of Marracuene assure that they are closely monitoring the situation and will issue further statements as soon as there are any changes. The guidance for the population is clear: follow the instructions of the local authorities and act with the utmost caution until the situation is fully under control.

This alert aims, above all, to reinforce the need for extreme caution, as the floods represent a serious risk to the safety and well-being of families in the region.
