In celebration of Peace and Reconciliation Day, the Municipality of Maputo, in partnership with Khuzula, carried out this Saturday, October 4th, a symbolic action of planting plants on the central divider of Avenida Marginal, near the Alcântara Santos viaduct.
The initiative, which was attended by representatives from both institutions, is part of the partnership between the Municipality and Khuzula, which aims to promote the arts, enhance urban spaces and create tourism promotion circuits in the Mozambican capital.
Khuzula was represented by its General Director, Paulo Chibanga, and its Executive Director, Júlia Novela. On behalf of the Municipality of Maputo, Rodrigo Sala, Director of the Municipal Culture Service, represented the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports, and Engineer Feniasse Lichaque, from the Gardening Department, represented the Department of Infrastructure and Health.
During the event, participants highlighted the symbolism of the gesture in the context of Peace and Reconciliation Day, emphasizing the importance of joining forces to create a greener, more inclusive and sustainable creative city.
"Planting is an act of hope. It's a commitment to the future and to future generations. This action reflects the spirit of peace and cooperation that we want to see flourish in Maputo," emphasized Paulo Chibanga, General Director of Khuzula.
The partnership between Maputo Municipality and Khuzula has been developing projects that combine art, sustainability, and tourism, promoting creative and cultural spaces that strengthen the city's identity.
The Municipality of Maputo and Khuzula are calling on partners, institutions, and citizens to join this cause, contributing to environmental preservation and the beautification of the city. With simple gestures, like planting a tree, it is possible to build a more vibrant, balanced, and inspiring Maputo—a city that grows with the people and for the people.
