Manhique Begins Five-Day Tour of Maputo Drainage Works

Mayor assesses the quality and execution of interventions in the city's downtown area and promises a more resilient city.

The President of the Maputo Municipal Council, Rasaque Manhique, began a five-day visit this Wednesday to the ongoing drainage works in the capital. The objective is to monitor, on the ground, the level of execution and the quality of the interventions.

On the first day of the tour, the Mayor toured Avenida 24 de Julho and Avenida Vladimir Lenine, in the city center. During the inspection, he assessed the progress of the work and recommended that the contractor correct some identified issues before the final handover of the project.

The interventions have been ongoing since the beginning of last year and have generated some friction among residents, who, despite constant communications from the municipality, complain about the lack of dynamism in urban mobility.

However, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to closely monitor the execution of the works and to continue investing in infrastructure improvements, with the aim of making the City of Maputo increasingly functional, resilient, safe and organized.
