Machete men invade residence in Beira

Early Tuesday morning, at least three armed men broke into a residence in the city of Beira, causing panic among the occupants. During the attack, one citizen was assaulted, while two of the attackers managed to escape. The third was captured and is in police custody.

The incident occurred shortly after the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Beira denied, last week, the existence of groups designated as "Matana Men" in the region. However, witnesses identified the invaders as carrying machetes, which reignited concerns about the presence of armed criminals in the area.

Police authorities have already begun investigations to locate and arrest the two men who fled, as well as to determine the circumstances of the robbery. Meanwhile, the local population is expressing concern about security, demanding a greater police presence and effective responses to curb the violence.

The case will be monitored by the authorities, who promise to release more information as soon as the details are confirmed.
