Macaneta: President Announces Restrictions After Beach Incident

Security measures include alcohol controls and vehicle limits following the chaos of September 25th.

Following the incident recorded on September 25th at Macaneta Beach, located in the town of Marracuene, President Shafee Sidate announced a series of restrictive measures to prevent further chaotic situations in that coastal area.

At the time, there was an uncontrolled excess of vehicles and people, creating a scenario of overcrowding that hindered any emergency evacuation operation. There are indications that the incident resulted in deaths, and the president offered his condolences to the bereaved families.

According to the mayor, in the coming days the beach will undergo an alcohol test, and no vehicle will be allowed in without meeting safety requirements. It is estimated that at least one hundred and fifty vehicles will be able to access the area, according to the municipal parking capacity. During the announcement, the leader displayed on his cell phone a post circulating on social media, warning that on October 4th the destination will again be Macaneta Beach, under the slogan "Invasion of Macaneta". The dissemination of this initiative raises concerns about a repeat of the problems recorded the previous month.
