After a remarkable 45-year career in the banking sector, marked by visionary leadership, innovative spirit and unwavering commitment to sustainability, João Figueiredo will, at his own request, cease his duties as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Moza Banco, SA, at the Annual General Meeting of 29 April 2025.
As a transformative leader, João Figueiredo has left an indelible mark on Moza Banco. His tenure as CEO (2016-2021) and subsequent presidency were defined by his strategic vision, courage and passion for empowering communities. Under his guidance, Moza Banco not only weathered the adverse circumstances it faced, but also expanded into new markets, introduced innovative financial products and championed key initiatives to promote gender equality in Mozambique, such as the Moza Women project.
As a staunch advocate of environmental sustainability, João Figueiredo has also promoted a culture of responsibility, earning the bank numerous accolades for its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
