ISUTC certifies 56 urban transport operators as part of the MOVE Maputo Project

Maputo, July 7, 2026– The Higher Institute of Transport and Communications (ISUTC), through its executive training school ISUTC Executive Education, held the closing ceremony and certificate presentation for the Urban Public Passenger Transport Operator Training (level B, PFO-B). The initiative took place within the framework of the partnership with the Metropolitan Transport Agency (AMT), in the context of the MOVE Maputo Project.

The ceremony took place in the Professor Fernando Leite Auditorium, on the ISUTC campus, and marked the certification of 56 trainees who completed the training program, carried out between August 2025 and May 2026.

The main objective of the training was to strengthen the technical, operational, and behavioral skills of urban public transport operators, contributing to greater quality, safety, and efficiency of the services provided to passengers.

For ISUTC, this training reinforces the institution's role in developing professionals in areas that are strategic for the country's development. “Our objective throughout this course was to strengthen the technical, operational, and behavioral skills of these individuals who serve Maputo's passengers every day, with the overarching goal of contributing to safer, more efficient, and higher-quality transportation,” stated Dr. Cheila Hoana, Director of Executive Education at ISUTC Executive Education.

The program included modules focused on essential areas of operator activity, namely Transport Management; Public Transport Operations; Vehicle Maintenance; Customer Support Service; Marketing and Communication in Public Transport; Economic Driving; Transport Safety; Gender and Gender-Based Violence; and First Aid.

The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Director-General of ISUTC, Dr. Faizal Carsane; the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Transport Agency, Dr. Fernando Andela; Dr. Juvêncio Bule, Councillor for Transport of the Maputo City Council; and Mr. Calido Naico, representative of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.

The certificates were presented by the institutional representatives present, in a moment that symbolized the recognition of the journey undertaken by the trainees and the joint commitment of the institutions involved in the professionalization of urban public transport.

This initiative falls within the scope of the MOVE Maputo Project and reinforces the importance of training professionals in the sector as part of efforts to improve urban mobility in the Maputo Metropolitan Area.

With this training, ISUTC reaffirms its role as a higher education institution committed to technical qualification, connection to the productive sector, and the preparation of professionals capable of responding to the current challenges of urban mobility in Mozambique.
