Isac Moiane Takes Mozambican Jazz from the Maputo Stage to China

Mozambican bassist and composer Isac Moiane is back in the international spotlight as one of the guest artists at the 6th edition of the Standard Bank ACÁCIA JAZZ Festival. The event will take place on November 29th at the Mozambique-China Cultural Center in Maputo.

On this prestigious stage, Moiane will have the opportunity to share the stage with leading figures in world jazz, such as the American Esperanza Spalding – winner of five Grammy Awards – and the acclaimed Eric Darius and Jimmy Dludlu. The evening promises to be a true meeting of generations and talents, uniting local and international references.

At the helm of his “Isac Moiane Project,” the artist has established himself as one of the most authentic voices of the new generation of jazz in the country. His musical approach is marked by the fusion of traditional Mozambican rhythms, such as Marrabenta, Chigubo, Tufo, and Nhambaro, with contemporary influences from jazz, gospel, and African music. This combination results in a sound that is simultaneously refreshing and spiritual, with deep roots in Mozambican culture.

But the news doesn't stop there. Right after his performance at ACÁCIA JAZZ, Isac Moiane embarks on an international tour with two concerts scheduled in China on December 12th and 13th. One of these shows is even part of an international jazz festival, reaffirming not only his individual talent but also the growing strength of Mozambican music on the global scene.

His album, “Isac Moiane Project”, already available on the market, is proof of this vision. It functions as a celebration of his identity and a testament to his ability to unite tradition and modernity. Through the expressive sound of his bass, Isac invites the audience on a journey that celebrates Mozambican jazz with soul and originality.

In this way, his participation in both the ACÁCIA JAZZ Festival and on Chinese stages consolidates his career as one of the most promising names of his generation, further elevating Mozambique's name on the world music map.
