Husband kills wife with hammer and flees after the crime; community demands justice

Another tragic case of domestic violence has rocked the Siduava neighborhood in the municipality of Matola. A man identified as Ernesto is being sought by authorities after allegedly killing his wife with a hammer during an alleged marital argument. The brutality of the act deeply shocked the local community, which accuses the attacker of persistent violent behavior over the years. According to reports from neighbors and family, the couple had a turbulent relationship, marked by constant arguments and episodes of aggression on the part of the husband.

The accused's mother confirmed that before the crime, her son ordered her and her grandchildren to leave the house, saying he needed to talk to his wife alone. Shortly thereafter, the crime occurred. The woman lamented her son's behavior and revealed that she had also been a victim of aggression. "He sent me and the children away because he wanted to talk to his wife. After all, he wanted to do these things. He's even beaten me," she said, visibly shaken.

Neighbors confirm that Ernesto was known for his aggressive temperament and the threats he made against anyone who confronted him. "That man is mean, annoying, I have audio of him threatening us here. We don't want him in the neighborhood anymore," a resident complained. The block leader also confirmed that the suspect has been on the run since the day of the crime, which has increased the feeling of insecurity in the community.

Authorities continue their efforts to locate the attacker, while the victim's family calls for justice. The case rekindles alarms about the rise in domestic violence in the country and the need to strengthen prevention mechanisms, protect victims, and effectively punish perpetrators. The Siduava community demands swift responses and firm measures to prevent more lives from being lost due to episodes of domestic violence.
