Last week, the business incubator of the largest and oldest University in Mozambique, UEM, graduated eighteen (18) startups within the scope of the Business Incubator to better understand the development of this process that lasted a year, we spoke with one of the participants,Anderson Silva Nhachissanbe, 24 years old, student of the Marketing and Public Relations course at the School of Communication and Arts (ECA) of Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) daytime course, having said the following:
I participatedat the UEM Business Incubator Startup Graduation event, where I represented one of the startups, Maimed Lda, which was officially graduated after the incubation process. It was a very special moment for all of us, as it marked the beginning of a new, more solid and professional stage.
According to the interviewee,Maimed joined the incubator with the aim of developing Resmus, a digital platform that centralizes academic materials and opportunities for Mozambican students. During the incubation period, we received mentoring, structure and strategic support that were crucial to our growth. Our focus was to solve real challenges faced by students who have difficulty accessing academic content and professional opportunities through accessible technological solutions. It is important to highlight that the process had started on June 17, 2024 and the graduation took place on April 17, 2025.
This academic exercise aimed to strengthen the entrepreneurial skills of the participants and prepare the startups for the market, with a focus on viability, structuring of business models and insertion in the ecosystem. The activities in the incubator were regular, with weekly and/or monthly meetings, workshops and mentoring, depending on the stage of the project.
I think the organization of the event was excellent. The atmosphere was welcoming, well prepared and the program was executed professionally. I would like to highlight the constant support of the incubator team, which made all the difference throughout the process. The event was also attended by entrepreneurs, investors and individuals from the academic world.
The experience was transformative. The incubator not only helped us better structure our project but also opened doors to valuable connections. We left with more confidence, knowledge and ready to face the challenges of the market.
